hocem sponsors La Carrera Panamericana 2006 in Mexico
Monday, February 12th, 2007From 9th to 16th November 2006 the worldwide toughest rallye and race, the “La Carrera Panamericana”, took place in Mexico with hocem being one of the sponsors!

Founded by the Mexican government the first rallye took place in 1950. Since then names like Juan Manuel Fangio, Piero Taruffi and Karl Kling are connected with the event. Uncalculated risks caused the disruption of the “La Carrera Panamericana” in 1954.

Since 1988 the rallye again takes place every year. Historic cars from all over the world make their way through the countryside of Mexico. Tropical climate and long roads ranging from sea level to 3000 meter high mountains, with a distance of more than 3.500 km create the special and challenging character of this rallye.
In 2006 the “La Carrera Panamericana” started in Veracruz and made its way to Monterrey via Puebla, Querétaro, Morelia, Aguascalientes and Zacatecas.
The chairman Mr. Albrecht Haase and his wife Christine participated in the event with their Jaguar MK 1/ 1958. After two years of intensive preparation one of their life dreams came true.
They finished with a respectable overall 16th place out of 90 cars and the 7th place in the historic group. For the final day even winner of the day.
The preparations for the 2007 rallye already started! This year´s rallye will be very special as it will take place for the 20th time.
